Lively and Baldoni, who also directed the film, are slow dancing in a bar and were audio recorded. After an initial exchange in which she questions whether they are in the right position, they dance and smile quietly.
He kisses her forehead then moves to kiss her on the lips before she visibly hesitates and they continue dancing. She is then seen turning her head with their faces close together and he kisses her cheek.
She tells him: “I think we should talk. I think it’s more romantic if we like to… dance and talk.” He agrees and says “the whole montage we’re talking about”.
She continues: “Because it’s like the moment they kiss, then you give them something they want to see.”
He replied: “That’s why almost kissing is good too.” She replies: “Yes. But we’re still talking.”
They continue to dance lovingly, laughing and discussing the scene. He bends her neck. She tells him it’s “more romantic” to talk. He says he’s “just lost” and “has no problem talking most of the time” because viewers “will never know. [what’s being said] in slow motion”
He tells her “I know you and Ryan. [Reynolds, her husband] talk all the time,” but he and his wife, Emily, like to stare at each other, joking that “you’re going to find it creepy.” She laughs and jokes that “I’d be like, ‘ Oh no I got a sociopath'”.
He asks the camera operator to film their lips “super close”, to which she agrees but adds that they should “start talking” and “don’t give it”. [the kiss] He agrees that they “must exercise restraint.”
They continue to dance, touching their foreheads and noses, to which she laughs because she feels “too nosey”. He jokes that “my nose is too big” and she laughs that the film will have to “turn off” and “deal with it”, adding: “Just kidding.”
In the next take, he is seen kissing her neck then says “Am I shaving you today?” She laughs and replies: “I’m probably spray-tanning you.” He nuzzled the other side of her neck and said: “It smells good”. She adds: “Well, it’s not, it’s my body makeup”. They keep dancing and he screams.
The third take shows their feet and bodies as they dance. The opening caption states “These three were filmed in sequence”.
