B.C. climate activist facing imminent deportation without reprieve from minister

A climate activist in British Columbia says he is packing his bags and plans to report to Vancouver airport at the end of the week to face deportation back to Pakistan, believed to be from Canada. Their elimination is “certain” without ministerial intervention.

Zain Haque, who came to Canada for the first time on a student visa, said he was at the airport to catch a flight to Toronto before he was due to fly back to Pakistan on Sunday.

Haque says he and his Canadian wife, Sophia Pape, woke up in “disbelief” when faced with the prospect of moving out of the country after what the couple described as a bureaucratic snafu that caused their A husband’s application for permanent residence has been derailed.
