LAHORE: Pakistan Railways (PR) has temporarily suspended all its operations from Punjab and Sindh to Balochistan and vice versa after a terrorist attack on Jaffar Express on Tuesday.
Aamir Ali Baloch, chief executive officer of PR, said Don Passenger and freight trains will remain suspended until security and law enforcement agencies have been notified that the area has been cleared and the law and order situation in Balochistan has returned to normal.
He prayed for the protection of all passengers, staff members and other concerned, “We are in touch with security agencies … but I can’t share what is happening on the ground right now.”
The official said that at the request of the concerned authorities, the railway teams have also arranged a special train to take security forces to the area from the CB to the area where the attack took place.
Meanwhile, Jaffar Express (down) left Lahore around 5:30 pm on Tuesday and will end in the score/Rohri.
“This will not move further for Quetta, because the security situation is not good,” said Mohammad Asif, deputy station manager of Lahore. Don.
He said that PR has canceled two trains – Shah Hussain Express and Pak Business Train due to low reservations. “Passengers who confirmed the reservations for these trains, were kept on Karakoram and Karachi Express trains,” he said.
