Wes Streeting: there is overdiagnosis of mental health conditions | Health policy

Secretary Health, Weiss Strating, has said that he believes that there is a “high diagnosis” of “writing to many people” along with some mental health conditions. He said he said the government’s welfare measures were a key campaign.

Talking to broadcasters, Strating was repeatedly challenged whether ministers were leaving disabled people for longer about these plans – and would they freeze personal freedom (PIP) this week as part of their welfare package.

The Secretary Health did not deny that the government had left plans to freeze the PIP after a major response from Labor MPs this week. It is still expected that there will be major changes in PIP, including payment of disability – which is not dependent on the job – it is difficult to claim, as well as to work for employment for people with very sick or disabled.

When asked if he thinks of excessive diagnosis of certain conditions is a problem, he told the BBC on Sunday with Laura Coinsburg: “I want to follow the evidence and I agree with this point about excessive diagnosis.

“Here is another thing, mental fitness, illness, it’s a spectrum and I think it is definitely excessive diagnosis, but many people are being written and, according to your point of view of treatment, many people who are not just getting their support. So if you help people get back to work, then you can help you get back to work.

The Guardian reported on Friday that the ministers have threatened that they will resign any possible frozen from the PIP, which will require votes in Parliament. But there is a widespread concern from the Labor MPs on how strict the standards of claiming disability will be, and about changes in employment and auxiliary allowances, which cannot work.

“I have not seen the full plans, they have not yet come to the cabinet,” said Striting. “But I know that this work and pension secretary wants to help those who need the most help and we have to make sure it has a wide range of help, and that everyone is playing their role, including me, because with these levels of illness, for example, we will help them, if we will help them.

“I have not seen the suggestions but you have seen the briefing, you have seen speculations, I think the story is waiting for the moral plans.”

Striting said that he did not come into politics to take money from the most weak in the society but still needs reform. “We want to support those who are the poorest and most weak to ensure that they have achieved dignity, freedom and great standards of life,” he said.

“Without the support of an active state, I wouldn’t talk to you here. The challenge we’ve got [is] We have one of the eight youths in this country who is not in education, employment or training. We have one in 10 people who are finished work, are sick, and 3 million people are graduated from the labor market due to long -term illness.

“Now, of course., Some people will be caused by serious disability or because of a chronic illness that cannot be changed, they will not be able to work, and these people need to help to become a Spring Board to work.”
