What to watch for in WPIAL sports on March 15, 2025: Class 2A boys bracket still packed with WPIAL teams

The quarter -final pit on the path of Harsha stops with the girls’ class 6A, 3A and 2A with the girls class 5A, 4A and a central stage on Saturday.

In this 2025 PIAA Boys Class 2A post season it certainly has a voice of 2017.

Eight years ago, the WPIL reached four teams in the state playoffs.

It was the first state tournament with six rankings and through two rounds in 2A, WPEC Champion Seyukley Academy, Runner Up Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 7-3 Bishop Kennedy and 7-4 Greensburgh Catholic Catholic Quarterfinals.

In the third round, the Seyakley Academy played in the past from GCC, 61-46, and Bishop Kenyan knocked Olsh 66-60.

Panthers defeated the Crusaders in the semifinals and won the state gold by beating the Constitution in Oversement, 68-63.

This year, the crop of 7 teams has been a good crop.

The eight district teams who qualified are 12-3, of which there are five teams in Elite Eight.

Of the four quarter -finals, three were among the WPIL teams.

The WPE-champion Janet (25-3) is the third time with the game at the neutral location of Noreon High School at the afternoon, against the section rival and the WPEl-Play-off seed Greensburgh Central Catholic (25-2).

Centurians are seeking to sweep Jia Hawks twice in the regular season twice in the Century Season, 53-47 in Janet and 58-48 in the GCC in early February.

Centurians knocked on District 5 Champion McConnesburg by 11 points and Nashik 14 points in the first two rounds.

The chargers lost to Janet in the WPIAL quarter -finals and fell to the GCC in the 2A Consolation Round, but this is the first meeting against Panthers.

In the first round, Olsh increased District 9 champion Red Bank Valley by 11 points and in the second round the District Runner -up union was removed by six points.

The Seyakley Academy has won four directly after the Janet fall in the 7 semi -finals district.

In the state play office, Panthers crushed Wonder by 28 points and took the Lake View in the past by 21 points.

Let’s not forget about the North Gate, which was easier to end when the bracket ended.

Flames have won the State Playoff by two points at District 6 Winner Portage and District 9 runner -up Clearion 28 points.

The WPIL 6A Boys Basketball Champion Upper St. Claire relies on a low and sharp, hot shot guard on size.

He won Panthers 25 in 27 games.

• Immunity Charter (25-5) vs Parkland (19-9) at the Jagal Complex at 6 pm in Reading

Ranger risk

Another win

It seems that the entire season long, WPEL Girls Basketball fans wait for the final exhibition between Class 5A Powers Township and South Fight.

It finally came to the District 7 Championship game when the Indians returned to knock from defending champion lines three times, 40-36.

Both teams have won two rounds of the PIAA Playoff and are now far from each other from confrontation for the opportunity to play for the state honor.

On Saturday, the WPE-champion Peters Township (25-3) District 10 winner will contest the Catadall Fairy (18-7) at 2:30 pm at Slipri Rock University.

Miami (Fl.) Committed Natalie Vitzel leads Indians in the first two rounds with 43 points shared in winning the Conrad Weaser and Thomas Jefferson.

Somewhere, South Faye (26-2) District 6 Champion Holdsburg (25-3) is preparing to fight at 1:30 pm in Armstrong

Renewal of enmity

Black Hawk and North Catholic are in separate class 4A parts and did not play in regular season or district playoff this season, but both programs are familiar with each other.

In the final of the 2023 Wchi 4A Girls Basketball, North Catholic defeated Black Hawk 51-35, with more than 16 points than Eliana Roko’s game.

A year later, the two powers met again in the stomach with the same result. Thanks to Roko’s 26 points, Trojan won 40-37, Koggus.

North Catholic won the WPEL Gold, but Black Hawk won the 2024 PIAA 4A Championship.

So the Golden Girls are ready to collide again.

Black Hawk (25-3) is contested by North Catholic (24-4) at noon at Hampton on Saturday.

In the 2024 district final, Freshman Brady Vener scored seven points for Trojan and Sophomor Ober Hip scored 10 points for Koagrus 10 points.

Now a year later, they have played a major role in the success of their team in 2025.

In a win over Pan Cambria and Harbor Creek, Vener has scored 31 points for the Northern Catholic.

The hip has won a dominant post season for Black Hawk, which includes 41 points jointly winning the State Playoffs at Franklin and Clare Field.

Meanwhile, 2025 WPE Champion Auckland Catholic (25-3) continues to murmur as she is preparing to play the number 3 team outside District 12 in Lansadel Catholic (21-5) at West Branch at 2:30 pm.

With the collapse of the Economy Academy in the second round on Wednesday, the PIAA class A bracket will not be able to remain WPEL teams. In fact, it is a district 6 block party in the West.

• St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy (26-2) vs Bishop Galphile (27-2) in Altona 1:30 pm

• Linwell Hill Christian (22-2) vs Greenwood (21-6) in Hamburg 1:30 pm

Saturday 2025 PIAA Class 3A Boys and Girls is the second and final day of the swimming championship. The program is taking place at Bickel University.

Catholic collision in Palman

With the prediction of the day, the four Catholic High School, which has a strong tradition of baseball success, will compete on Saturday at the Sierra Catholic Invitational at the Pulman Park in Butler’s Palman Park on Saturday.
