Iraqi National Intelligence Service members have been killed in Iraq and Syria with US -led coalition forces in Iraq.
“Iraqis are continuing their impressive victories over the darkness and terrorist forces,” Prime Minister Mohammad Shiite al -Sudani said in a statement published on X.
The statement said that Abdullah Maki Mosley Al -Fai, or “Abukhdeja” militant group’s “Deputy Caliph” and “Iraq and one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world,” said.
On Friday night, on the social platform of his truth, US President Donald Trump said: “Today, the fugitive leader of ISIS was killed in Iraq. In harmony with the Iraqi government and the Kurdish regional government, our fearless fighters brutally hit him.
“Peace through power!” Trump was posted.
The operation was carried out by airstrikes in Anbar province, western Iraq, a security official said. Another official said the operation took place on Thursday night, but the death of Alfai was confirmed on Friday. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he had no authority to comment in public.
The announcement came on the same day when the first visit of the Syrian top diplomat, during which the two countries promised to work together.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fawad Hussain said at a news conference that “Syrian and Iraqi society, and especially IS have the common challenges facing terrorists.” He said officials said “in detail about the movement of ISIS, whether on the Iraqi border of Syria, inside Syria or inside Iraq”.
Hussein cited an operation room formed by Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, which is at a recent meeting in Oman to counter it, and said it will start work soon.
The Syrian President Bashar al -Assad between Iraq and Syria has been somewhat rich. Al -Sudani came to power in support of the alliance of Iran -backed factions, and Tehran was a major supporter of Assad. The current interim president of Syria, Ahmad al -Shahara, was previously known as Abu Mohammed al -Gulani and fought as an al -Qaeda militant in Iraq after the US invasion of 2003, and later fought against Assad’s government in Syria.
But Syria’s interim Foreign Minister Asad Hassan al -Shabani focused on historical relations between the two countries.
“Throughout history, Baghdad and Damascus have been the capital of the Arab and Islamic world, who are sharing knowledge, culture and economy,” he said.
He said, “strengthening the partnership between the two countries will not only benefit our people, but also help the stability of the region, which will give us less dependent on external powers and better potential to determine our destination.”
The operation and visit have come at a time when Iraqi officials are anxious about the restoration of ANIS in the wake of Assad’s fall in Syria.
While Syria’s new rulers – headed by former Islamist rebel group Hayat Tahir al -Sham, have chased cells since taking power, some have feared a overall security malfunction that could provide the group with a chance to resume.
The United States and Iraq announced last year to end the military mission in Iraq, an American -led coalition fighting with the Islamic State Group, in which US troops left some bases, where they have laid troops during a two decades long military presence in the country.
When Iraq’s agreement reached an end to the mission of the Alliance in Iraq, Iraqi political leaders said that the IS threat had been overcome and that they no longer need Washington’s help to defeat the remaining cells.
But as a result of Assad’s fall in December, some people were reviewed, including members of the Coordination Framework, which is primarily a coalition of Shiites, Iran -affiliated political parties, which brought the current Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al -Sudani to power at the end of 2022.
