Cuba suffers nationwide power outage, plunging millions into darkness

The Cuban power grid fell on Friday night, which mobilized the nationwide power outage and submerged more than 10 million people in the dark.

In the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines of Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines, “around 8:15 pm tonight, the failure of the Dizario substation caused a significant loss of generation in the west of #Cuba.” Said in a statement.

The ministry added that efforts are being made to restore the service.

The video filmed by CNN in the capital Havana depicts the streets and buildings in the dark, as people used electric flames to take the streets.

It identifies the latest places struggling with the latest infrastructure, natural disasters and economic turmoil in relation to failures on the Caribbean island.

Cuban officials have previously blamed US economic sanctions, which, under President Donald Trump’s former administration, has already increased to further disability the sick energy sector.

Critics also mistaken the lack of investment in infrastructure by the Communist government.

For about a week in October, most Cuba suffered a nearly blackout, which is the worst energy shutdown in decades.
