Vt. Senate approves bill expanding power to health care regulator

Montpiler, vs. (WCAX) – A large amount of Vermont’s health care system approved the Senate on Friday to further control the spending of health care for regulators.

Despite the increasing costs of care and insurance premiums, the legislators want the Green Mountain Care Board to have more authority to pay for how much hospitals and other health careers are paying. The bill also calls for the formation of a committee to work on planning for a sustainable Vermont health system.

“Overall, the bill will start to reduce costs- and we mean that at the same time, some of our major critical care will provide financial protection for hospitals.”

The bill has now gone into the house.
