Umass Chan Medical School and the Last Call Foundation are hosting a lecture at Firefighter’s Mental Health Umass Chan on Friday, March 14, recognizing the tensions facing firefighters that can help in drugs and mental health crises.
This lecture is part of a new education and research program that finances the Umass Chen, the last call foundation, through a gift of 000 200,000. The curriculum will be supported by medical students, including standard experiences of patients with firefighters, research on firefighter health, and lecture series.
“Firefighters have a high risk of notorious professional cancer and high risk of suicidal and mental health impairment,” said Timethe Boardman, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, an assistant professor of emergency medicine, an emergency medicine, an emergency medicine, an emergency medicine assistant professor, MD, MD, said Emergency Medicine’s Assistant Professor, MD, said Emergency Medicine’s Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine’s Assistant Professor, MD, said. Many of these firefighters need their basic care physicians so that they can recognize professional pathologists, he said. I think it makes sense for a medical school focused on the prevention of basic care to form a team with the last call foundation, which is really trying to raise awareness about firefighter health.
The last call foundation was founded by Kathy Crosby Bell in honor of his son, Fall Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who, along with a firefire, passed away on March 26, 2014 in Boston’s Beckbay, fighting the new alarm.
“The program is about to give medical students, nurses and doctors the opportunity to face the firefighter community,” said Jason Burns, an executive director of the last call foundation.
The work being done between the last call foundation and the Umass Chen is important, and the department encourages mental and physical health education to support productive and flexible manpower, said Adam Roche, Assistant Chief of the Versister Fire Department.
“Such programs help raise awareness and fully understand with firefighters, how the first respondents treat on a regular basis and how they deal with the stress coming up with the job,” Roche said. “The program also allows respondents to first learn how to take action and recover from events so that they can do a healthy job and live a healthy domestic life.”
