New Orleans – New Orleans City Council Member says he wants to explain to the administration of Mayor Latvia Centerille who has paid Washington DC travel this week while traveling to unnecessary city is banned.
The City Council unanimously approved a ban for employees and elected leaders in February, when the Canterille administration argued that the city could not afford a $ 90 million settlement agreement with New Orleans public schools.
This amount will help the district to get into a crisis crisis more than 36 million revenue of 36 million.
In return, an estimate against the district city will leave a case against more than $ 140.
The Center’s press team announced a trip to Yel Mayor’s College Conference on Sunday night (3/9), which immediately suffered a pushback.
Council President JP Morrell issued a letter in which his decision was “clearly illegal”. He called on Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montao and Chief Financial Officer Roman Samuel to stop the city’s funds from paying the journey.
He also requested information about travel costs, city payment, and ease of payments.
The press team of the Canterille released a statement on Monday afternoon (3/10) in which partially read: “The city of New Orleans will not cost and attend the mayor of New Orleans.”
Morrell doubled his concerns and questions on Tuesday (March 11).
“We do not know what that means. Obviously, in general, when you go to a conference, they will cover some kind of flight, may have some housing, but will include going to a program or many other expenses that are out of the aircraft’s flight and hotel room. The ban covers every aspect of the journey.
Morrell said he expects answers to his questions in the coming days, which will be known what the council’s answer is.
The Canterille Press Team did not answer Fox 8 questions on who paid for this trip.
District D City Councilor Eugene Green also said that he would ask for information about what happened to the administration.
“I don’t yet know who paid it, because it involves a dispute. So if it involves a dispute and is determined that someone else has paid for the journey, then this is the whole problem. I need the facts,” he said.
The next full meeting of the City Council will be held on Thursday (March 13).
