Police officials said today that the Karakoram Highway (KKH) has been blocked in the limits of the Lotter Police Station in Upper Kohistan since Monday night.
This has cut off parts of Gilgit Baltistan and Kohistan from the rest of the country, with hundreds of passengers and families trapped on both sides of the international route.
Last week, KKH was reopened for traffic when the company implementing the Dasu Hydropower Project in Kohistan had removed a large land slide that stopped the road earlier on Saturday.

“The Karakoram Highway has been blocked in the Lutar area last night, which is the limits of Upper Kohistan. Khalistan said that I recently contacted an official in Kohistan police who said that the land sliding was widespread, and that it was not inaugurated with the same cleaning machine till nightfall.
He added that passengers were trapped on both sides of the block. However, Dimmer Police was on the streets to inform the passengers to Islamabad and other cities that they would wait in the city of Chala till the opening of the road.
Minhajuddin said in Upper Kohistan Control Room Don Dot Com The work was underway at the opening work of the road, but the stones were large and in the Lulhar area, more than 100 meters of the road were blocked.
He said that the locals and the administration are serving trapped passengers in Kohistan as KKH was blocked for the fifth time in the last 10 days.
Ali Shah Charlotte, a passenger said Don Dot Com That he was traveling towards Gilgit and was stuck in the way with his family and waiting for the road closure, but the speed of road approval was not only slow but also included a single machine work.
He said the weather is cool and they are facing difficulties while fasting with the family.
He called on the government to permanently fix the issue because KKH is often blocked in Kohistan and Qatar areas, often, and even people lose their valuable life due to land sliding.
Earlier this month, two brothers were killed after a land sliding at the same location, while they were traveling back from Gilgit to Basham.
Last month, passengers who were traveling to Gilgit -Baltistan and Islamabad were trapped at KKH as heavy rains caused land sliding which stopped the main road at several places in Kohistan.
