KARACHI: Two bus rapid transit (BRT) services, operational control of green and orange lines have been officially handed over to the Sindh government on Monday.
An event was held at the Garden Area’s Operational Command and Control Center, where the chief executive of Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) transferred the operational control of Green and Orange Line Bus services to Sindh Transport Secretary Assad Zameen.
The program was also attended by Kamal Dev, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority and other senior officials of the Green & Orange Line BRT Services.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Anim Memon said in a statement, “Transferring Green and Orange Line Bus services to the Sindh government is an important step towards further organizing the public transport network.” “It is the Sindh government’s commitment to take all possible steps to enhance and maintain these bus services to provide the best travel facilities for the citizens.”
He said the government was working to improve the performance of these services through modern technology and normal maintenance.
The Minister added that an effective and integrated urban transport system is being developed in Karachi, with future plans to integrate BRT lines with other public transport systems.
