MacBook Air M4 has arrived and still promises to be the best MacBook Air. It is not only equipped with Apple M4 chip, but also includes the latest features of a new 12 MP center stage camera, 16GB RAM, dual external monitor support, and the latest features of Apple Intelligence. It costs $ 100 less than MacBook Air M3.
Right now, 13 inches $ 999 is the cheapest MacBook available at MacBook Air M4 Apple’s online store. However, this is not the most cheaper there, as Walmart is still selling MacBook Air M1 in 9 699.
Given the price difference, you may be tempted to buy MacBook Air M1. And I will not blame you, seeing that this is still a wonderful laptop for everyday use. However, while the new MacBook Air is priced at $ 300, it offers a better price overall.
Upgrade MacBook Air M4 MacBook Air M1 7.
Modern design
The most obvious upgrade between laptops is their relevant design.
MacBook Air M4, like its M3 and M2 -driven predecessors, offers a sleek and the least integrated square design. On the contrary, once the M1 air, the Sankonic topped design now looks ancient.
Other design differences include thin bells that allow more screen real estate (13.6 inches vs. 13.3). M4 Air also includes megasaf charging. For some people, the only upside down is that there is no sign in the upper center of the M1 air screen.
MacBook Air M4 comes in four colors: Silver, Star Light, Midnight and New Sky Blue. Meanwhile, M1 air comes in only three colors: gold, silver and space brown.
Finally, MacBook Air M4 is available in 13- and 15-inch models, while only one available size for M1 air, 13 inches.
Better display
We have not yet tested the MacBook Air M4 display. However, since it has not been updated from the previous model, we expect similar results.
Like MacBook Air M3, MacBook Air M4 has a retina display 13.6 inches (2,560 x 1,664). In our lab tests, AirM3 has an average of 476 nets shine and peak at 498 nits with HDR content. It registered 109.8 % of SRGB Color Game and 77.8 % of the more demanded DCI-P3 color space.

MacBook Air M1 has a retina display 13.3 inches (2,560 x 1,600). Based on the same test, it developed 110.6 % of the SRGB spectrum and brought up to 365.8 nits of the brightness.
Although both laptops have colorful reproduction and color accuracy, AirM3 can be bright. It also has a more pixel count because of its big screen.
The M1 air is still an excellent display, but the M4 model has an advantage.
M4 vs M1: Performance
The new MacBook Air M4 plays an Apple M4 chip, ahead of the 2020 MacBook Air M1 chip ahead of three generations.
We have not yet examined the performance of the M4 -driven laptop, but based on our test of MacBook 14 -inch M4, we expect the new air laptop to run in the lap around M1 air.
According to Apple, MacBook Air M4 is twice as faster than MacBook Air M1. Based on our testing, we can say that Apple’s claims are probably not the basis.

At the Gack Bench 6, which examines the performance of the overall CPU, MacBook Pro 14 -inch M4 performed almost double the McBook Air -based McBook Air.
However, it is important to note that we are comparing Geekbench 6 scores for M4 Pro with the old Gack Bench 5 scores for M1 air as we changed the version a while ago. And unlike M1 Air, there are also fans in M4 Pro, which help in better performance.
Although the results of the Gack Bench 5 do not compare directly to Geekbench 6 scores, you all say what you see above. If MacBook Air M4 has the same performance equal to the M4 MacBook Pro, it will provide a significantly better performance than MacBook Air M1.
M4 Pro completed work faster than M1 air in Photoshop and Hand Brake. Although like the previous gack bench tests, keep in mind that we are comparing the different versions of these programs in tests we have done in addition to years.
Battery life
We have not yet tested the battery life of MacBook Air M4. But if this MacBook is somewhere near the Air M3 or MacBook Pro M4, the laptop can last more than M1 air.

Apple says MacBook Air M4 has an 18 -hour life life. If correct, it will be equal to the 14 -inch M4 MacBook Pro, which lasted for 18 hours and 31 minutes in our battery test. This M1 will be about 5 hours longer than MacBook Air and 3 hours longer than M3 air.
Once again, when we have done our battery test, we will know the whole story. Hopefully, M4’s new air laptop can run as long as Apple says.
Camera and audio
MacBook Air M4 plays a new 12 MP center stage camera, a major upgrade to MacBook Air M1’s 720p fee -time camera.
Thanks to the latest camera, you should look fast during video calls on M4 Air. In addition, the camera follows you around and puts the F F crops to keep you in the frame. The built -in desk view feature can show your face and what is on your desk simultaneously during blacks.
Audio Wars, MacBook Air M4 has a four speaker system that supports local audio, while M -1 Air Stereo Packs Speaker and has no local audio. Also, M4 Air has a voice isolation, which is not prominent on M1 air.

Fast Apple Intelligence
According to Apple, M4 Air has a nervous engine that is 3 times more powerful than M1 air.
Although we still have to examine these features on a new laptop, we expect it to be a overall high -speed AI performance in view of its beefer processor.
Outlook
Although MacBook Air M1 is still a huge laptop, it has been decided through the features of the new MacBook Air M4 and potential performance and performance.
Even if its price is $ 300 higher than the M1 air, the higher the sticker is worth the laptop that you should continue for many years to come.
