Along with his domestic agenda, Donald Trump is busy eliminating the post -World War II ‘rules -based international order’, which his country has failed. The latest Salvo has been subjected to sanctions in the International Criminal Court. Mr Trump has signed an executive order approved by the United States or its allies, namely Israel, the United States, the United States, the United States. The move seems to have taken place through the ICC investigation into the Israeli Prime Minister’s war crimes investigation in Gaza. According to Mr Trump’s order, the ICC has “engaged in illegal and baseless actions” targeting the United States and Israel. During his last period in the White House, Mr Trump also approved the then ICC prosecutor and another official on investigation into US war crimes in Afghanistan. Neither the United States nor Israel is a member of the court. However, a large part of the international community disagrees with Mr Trump’s attack on the ICC. 79 states have signed a joint statement defending the international court’s work – including tough US allies like France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The latest move to the world is that of Hyper American immunity, that the United States and its affairs are beyond the reproach, that powerful actors can literally avoid killing. Therefore, a new, fair global order is needed, which is focused on justice – in all its forms – and equality is balanced with respect for sovereignty. Global South should help build this new world, with states that share universal values.
