On the issue of KIA wiring, more than 80,000 of its 2023-2025 Niro SUVs are withdrawing, which can prevent airbags and seat belts from operating properly.

A report was filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.The company said the loss of wiring could prevent front airbags and seat belts from deploying properly or could unintentionally deploy side curtain airbags. Airbags and seat belts that misrepresent or deploy airbags may increase the risk of being injured in an accident, NHTSA said.
The KIA discovered the potential problem in November 2024, and there was no injury to the problem with power seat vehicles or manual front passenger -set vehicles. The company told NHTSA.
