Local police say three people were killed, including a shooter, and two police officers were injured in firing at a supermarket in Indiana on Monday evening.
Police received a call about the shooting at Martin’s supermarket in 500 blocks of East Jackson Bolwear in the city of Elkord, about 15:30 pm, at 5:30 pm.
Officers arrived at the scene and killed two victims inside.
“Both of these men were announced to die at the scene, Elkhat police said in A. News release.
Police said officers engaged the suspect’s shooting outside the store and two officers were shot. The suspect was shot dead in exchange for shootings.
Both officers were shifted to local hospitals for diagnosis. One was treated and released from the hospital and the other was admitted to the hospital in a “fair but stable condition” by Monday evening.
Police said it is believed that there is no further threat to the public.
The names of the suspects, the victims and the officers involved have not been disclosed, the family information is pending.
Authorities did not say that the shooting would be encouraged. The Elkhart County Homeide Unit is handling the investigation and calling for witnesses to contact the unit at 574-295-2825.
