At least one person was killed and seven others injured when an explosion occurred near a passenger bus from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi on Sunday, officials said.
“The passenger bus, traveling on the M8 highway from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi, was hit near Khori, 25 km from Khuzdar city,” Khuzdar District Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti said. Dawn.com.
One of the injured was the bus conductor, who was said to be in critical condition. DC Dashti said that the injured were immediately shifted to Khuzdar Trauma Center after the blast.
An investigation revealed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted in an Alto vehicle parked near the road.
A heavy contingent of police, Frontier Corps and Levies forces reached the spot and stormed the area. The investigation into the incident has started.
Earlier this month, four people were killed and 32 injured in a blast that targeted a bus in the Turbat suburb of Balochistan.
In a separate incident, three civilians were injured in an IED blast targeting a truck carrying FC personnel in Balochistan’s Chaman city.
